Beautiful summer weather. Great live music. Good people gathering to celebrate each other. Combine all of these and you get a night like we had last Saturday when three talented Jersey Shore bands came together to celebrate their new releases.
The Extensions, Renee Maskin & The Wilder Tide, and CUSSING put together a great show on the Baronet Rooftop in Asbury Park with each band dropping new music the day before. It was also a celebration of the local music scene as the crowd was filled with their peers who came to share this special night with them.
CUSSING kicked the night off with an energetic set of noise-pop songs. The duo’s latest release, HAVE YOU SEEN CUSSING?, is a solid EP showcasing their indie-sleaze style with “LUNGS” being a standout track.
Renee Maskin & The Wilder Tide may be the newest of the three bands, but the foursome is comprised of talented local vets who sounded great. The chemistry in undeniable and they clearly have fun playing together. You should check out their debut EP In The Headlights, especially if you are a fan of Americana rock.
The Extensions closed the night and were excellent as usual. They made sure to play their new album Modern Vice in its entirety, and it was awesome to finally hear its story told live. They capped their set covering “Don’t You (Forget About Me)”…a fitting way to end the show.
You should definitely make it a point to see these bands when you get a chance, so go follow them on social media to see when and where they play next. Until then, check out their latest releases wherever you stream your music, or even better, buy a copy from their Bandcamp sites and help support a great bunch of local artists.
