Sisters for a Cure Concert: All-Female Bands Shaking Up The Stone Pony

A woman stands, phone in hand, among the stacked speakers at Red Bank Rehearsal Studio. Her brown eyes come alive as she scans a room filled wall-to-wall with female musicians. A pirate’s smile flashes every time a string player makes her guitar wail, the drummer drops a tasty fill, or the horn section punches it to a huge finish. 
“That sounded sooo good, I could cry!” Kelly Kachmar calls out.
It’s just one of many rehearsals for the Sisters for a Cure Concert, the all-female show produced by Kachmar Productions. The show goes full-throttle on October 10 at The Stone Pony. If the energy in the room is any indication, the legendary Jersey Shore venue is in for one kick-ass time.  
This concert has been Kachmar’s passion project, produced annually for the last three years in honor of friend Amy, a breast cancer survivor. The concert brings together over 60 musicians with a collective mission to raise funds to fight breast cancer. All proceeds from the concert go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The 2024 and 2025 productions raised over $30,000 for Komen. These efforts proved so successful that it only made sense to level up this year’s show’s visibility by moving it to The Pony.  
The lineup features four all-female bands, headed up by singer-songwriter-musicians who have local-scene cred throughout the Jersey Shore circuit: Jo Wymer, Pam McCoy, Jenny Barnes, and Dawn Hopkins. 
And the set lists? The bands will put their own spin on songs that span generations and genres, made famous by music’s most iconic women. These are the sing-along songs where you know every lyric. You know, the kind where you turn to the person next to you and shout, “No way! They’re doing this one!” Plus, there are some deep cuts that surprise and hit just right. 
In addition to a show filled with feel-good tunes, there will be a serious haul of raffle-basket goodies and experiences from local Asbury Park businesses, from a famed hotel to fave restaurants to hair studios and tattoo parlors. Plenty of baskets worth competing with your friends over. 
But alongside the sparkling guitars, shining horns, and incredible vocal power is the reason the show exists in the first place:  
“Sisters for a Cure is about empowerment, community, and making a real impact,” says Kachmar. “Every single dollar from our show goes directly toward the fight to cure breast cancer, and we couldn’t do it without the incredible backing of our community and partners.” 
Three years in, the Sisters for a Cure Concert has scaled up, becoming a proven powerhouse in the long-standing battle for a cure. Trust us, Boardwalk Rioters, you’ll be glad you went out during daylight to catch this one.

Full disclosure: I am a participant in the Sisters for a Cure Concert, taking place in Asbury Park, NJ on October 10, 2026. Am I biased? Heck yeah. These musicians are top-notch pros and the set lists are on fire. Breast cancer has touched people I love most, some survivors and some who are no longer with us, but all battled bravely. My deep desire is that through fundraisers like this, one day we will actually have a cure.
