As the annual migration of punk rockers to Asbury Park begins this week it can only mean one thing...it's time for Stoked for the Summer!
The Bouncing Souls' annual party at The Stone Pony Summer Stage happens this Saturday, June 27. Doors open at 4 pm and the music kicks off at 4:30 (despite what Ticketmaster says). And the boys have assembled one helluva lineup this year with Less Than Jake, The Lawrence Arms, Bane, School Drugs and Twenty Two. This should be a fun night for sure!
But did you know there's a bunch of other Stoked-related events happening before the main event?
Festivities kick off Friday with the release of the Souls' new album Born to Be. To celebrate, the band is hosting a small event at The Art Spot on the boardwalk. This will include listening to the album and even a few acoustic tunes from the band. Event kicks off at 5 pm and is first come first served. Space is limited.
Anchors Aweigh Tattoo parlor in Bradley Beach will once again serve as a hangout for fans to come by and get some fresh ink all weekend. No appointments needed. So stop by on Friday from 12-7, Saturday from 12-Showtime or Sunday from 12-?? and maybe get yourself a new Souls tattoo.
And then there's the popular Stoke Market. Trinity Church in Asbury Park hosts the annual punk rock flea and has an awesome collection of vendors including Jared Gaines Art, Jersey Ghoul, Cats Luck Vegan, 1603 Designs, Lunachick and more. Plus they'll have a limited amount of Bouncing Souls merch, autographed posters, and even some Asbury Park Football Company collab jerseys available. The markets runs from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday.
But wait...there's more! The night doesn't have to end once The Souls have played their final notes. Just head to the boardwalk to catch one of the best bands Asbury Park has to offer as The Vansaders once again play the Stoked for the Summer After Party Show at Low Dive. They will be joined by The Soul Dredgers and the it's free! Show starts at 10 pm so make sure to stop by and support the local scene too.
